The point worth being precise about, and where some pages that mention “clearance” stay vague, is who does it. For friable (Class A) work, the air monitoring and clearance certificate are carried out by an independent licensed asbestos assessor, a distinct role from the removalist. We arrange and coordinate that independent assessor and never issue the clearance ourselves. Naming the role correctly is not pedantry; it is the difference between a compliant job and one that marks its own work.

Why classification comes first

Most asbestos in a Glebe terrace is bonded and stable while intact, but bonded material can become friable when damaged, aged, weathered, fire-affected or water-blasted, and friable material needs Class A handling.
