Only once the site is cleared and certified does structural demolition begin.
What else a demolition needs before work starts
Approval is only part of getting a site ready. A few other steps catch owners out:
- A waste management plan: Georges River Council expects demolition and construction waste to be planned for, so material is sorted, recycled where it can, and sent to licensed facilities. We prepare it as part of the job.
- Service disconnections: electricity, gas, water, sewer and telecommunications all have to be disconnected and made safe before work starts.
- Protected trees: if a tree on or near the site is protected, removing or pruning it can need separate approval.
- Footpath or road occupancy: where a skip, hoarding or machine has to sit on the footpath or road, a permit may be required.
