Our removal process in full

Doing asbestos removal correctly in Balmain follows a fixed, documented sequence:

1. Inspection and identification of suspected asbestos materials, with sampling where needed.
2. SafeWork NSW notification before licensed work begins, which carries a five-day lead time worth factoring into a builder’s programme.
3. Containment for friable work, sealed enclosures, negative air pressure, HEPA filtration and fibre-suppression wetting.
4. Air monitoring during the works.
5. The clearance certificate confirming the area is safe for reoccupation.
6. EPA-compliant transport and disposal at a licensed facility, with tipping dockets.

For friable (Class A) work, the air monitoring and the clearance certificate are carried out by an independent licensed asbestos assessor, separate from us as the removalist. We arrange and coordinate that independent assessor; we never issue the clearance ourselves. That independence is a compliance requirement, and getting it right is itself a mark of a properly run job.

Which kind of asbestos you have

Most asbestos in a Balmain home is bonded (non-friable), sheeting and cladding that is stable while intact. But bonded material can become friable when it is damaged, aged, weathered, fire-affected or water-blasted, and once it is friable it needs Class A handling. That is why a site inspection determines the class before any work is scoped. We keep this factual: the aim is a correct, compliant assessment, not alarm.
